Ben Jones closes in on Personal Best
I am eight winners away from setting a personal best. I just want to better myself each year and go from there. I am already way above on prize money, I think I am third on the table and I’m not far off the top five winners wise either. All I want to do is better myself and personally it has gone really well for me. When I hit my PB, I will buy myself a nice Indian and watch Match of the Day!
Mr Finch – 12.40 Warwick
Mr Finch has had one run for us around Fontwell and jumped very big and green. He schooled this morning; he will improve plenty for that run and will have tightened up a lot. I hope he has a nice chance.
Mambonumberfive – 1.50 Warwick
I ride Mambonumberfive in the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase, where there are only three runners. Steel Ally will take the lead and we will probably take the lead off him. Even though there’s only three of us in it, it will hopefully be an interesting race for everyone to watch. Mambo is in brilliant form. He schooled very well this morning, and I’m very much looking forward to riding him. I enjoy these small fields; it is more tactical and if you are on the best horse, it should go and win. I’m hoping I am on the best horse…he’s my best ride of the day.
Easy Love – 3.00 Warwick
I can’t tell you a whole lot about Easy Love, trained by Anthony Honeyball. It’s a spare ride. She won nicely the last day at Windsor and did it with a bit in hand. She looks to be up in grade but on her ratings, she hasn’t got loads to find. She is improving and it’s a nice spin to have. I am looking forward to it.
Cornish Storm – 3.35 Warwick
This is another one I can’t tell you a whole lot about. He won the last day around Taunton and Stuart Kittow is normally very good at placing them so hopefully he should have a good chance here.
Champagne Twist – 4.10 Warwick
He has been very disappointing since his novice season. At the start of the year, he ran over fences and looked like he took to them quite well but he probably scared himself a little running around Sandown. We went back over hurdles around Newbury the last day in a big field and he hated it. There are only eight runners here and hopefully we can get a bit of zest back into him. He is coming back down in trip a little, so this is now a revival mission. I schooled him this morning and he’s definitely got the zip and swag at home. We just need to see him do it at the track
Vrheligonne – 4.45 Warwick
This is a lovely big mare. I haven’t done a lot with her, but she has been doing the work without setting the world alight. She is a straightforward, genuine mare who will learn a lot for having a run around and we don’t really know how good she is. We will see how good she does on the day and go from there.
