Chelsea and Newcastle will look to put midweek disappointments in the Champions League behind them when they return to action in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Blues' place in Europe's elite competition is in serious doubt after losing 5-2 to holders Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their last-16 tie. Newcastle were much more impressive but were denied a deserved win over Barcelona by a 96th-minute Lamine Yamal penalty as they drew 1-1 at St James' Park.

Liam Rosenior's men did enjoy a hugely encouraging victory in their last Premier League outing, however, having won 4-1 at top-four rivals Aston Villa to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification. Newcastle also got a notable win last time out in the top flight, beating Manchester United courtesy of a late William Osula stunner.

Joao Pedro is in the form of his life right now, netting a hat-trick at Villa Park to take his Premier League goals tally to 14 before following it up with another goal in the FA Cup against Wrexham.

The Brazilian is a nailed-on starter for Rosenior and we can see him notching once again to bag his ninth goal in nine league appearances.

Much like how Pedro seems nailed on to score at the moment, Joelinton is always going to be a favoured pick in the yellow cards market for Newcastle.

The Brazilian is no stranger to a booking, picking up eight so far this season including in their last Premier League game against Man Utd. The physical midfielder will almost certainly start in midfield and we are backing him to add to his total.

There could be goals in this game with neither team's defence exactly watertight and both attacks beginning to hit some form.

Chelsea's games have had an average of three total goals, with the Toon just below on 2.9 - but we are thinking even higher for this encounter and have gone with a lofty over 3.5 total goals to tie in with our score prediction of 2-2.
