With Cheltenham betting the talk of the town now, Ladbrokes has the Willie Mullins star as the 2/1 favourite for the race, with The New Lion no longer holding the top spot at 11/4.

Meanwhile, Mullins is 6/1 to train more winners at the festival than all the British trainers combined.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: There is no doubt that Lossiemouth is going to prove hugely popular in the Champion Hurdle and we wouldn’t be surprised if she goes off favourite.

Speaking of Mullins, the esteemed trainer is expected to be part of an Irish class that dominates Cheltenham betting across the festival this week.

The Champion Hurdle is the marquee event taking place on day one of Cheltenham, with other races including the Supreme Novices' Hurdle which kicks off the festival.
