England are backed to keep another clean sheet and win the match
An international break is upon us once again, with preparation for next year's World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico ramping up. Ladbrokes brings you its odds, betting tips and predictions for England vs Wales, as Thomas Tuchel continues to try and find his best eleven in this international friendly.
England vs Wales betting tips and predictions
Ollie Watkins to score anytime
It can be hard to predict the England lineup for a friendly, but one of the more likely selections is always the skipper and number nine, Harry Kane. The captain has started all six of Thomas Tuchel's games in charge so far, but his involvement against Wales is in question due to injury.
Should Kane miss out, which seems likely given that he's been absent from training in the days leading up the game, Ollie Watkins is expected to come in.
Watkins has struggled this season so far, scoring just one in his last ten competitive matches. However, he has a good record for England and we expect him to start and score against the Welsh this week.
Bukayo Saka 1+ shots on target
With Noni Madueke sidelined after a strong run of form, Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka should get the nod on the right wing. He has been one of England’s most reliable performers over the years and will want to stamp his authority again on the right flank. Given how often he drifts inside and looks to get shots away, we’re tipping him to land a shot on target.
Wales under 0.5 goals
England have kept clean sheets in five of their six games under Thomas Tuchel, and even with changes expected, their defensive structure remains solid. Wales were beaten 1-0 at home by Qatar in their last outing and may find chances hard to come by. We reckon that the visitors might be shut out again at Wembley.
England to win
Despite winning all five of their World Cup qualification games under Tuchel, England actually lost their only friendly during his reign, a 3-1 defeat to Senegal at the City Ground in June.
That said, there were signs that things were finally starting to click under the German in the Three Lions' 5-0 win away in Serbia. There'll be plenty of players eager to stake their claim for a place in the World Cup squad. We reckon that positive momentum will continue here, with England picking up a win against their old rivals at Wembley.
