Match to end in a draw

A few weeks ago Chelsea were soaring after a 4-1 win at Villa Park moved them into the Champions League places, but Liam Rosenior is now fighting to keep their season on track after a disappointing week which saw them lose at home to Newcastle in the Premier League and dumped out of Europe by PSG 8-2 on aggregate. It was a humbling defeat that highlighted Chelsea's gap to the continent's elite, just months after they beat the same opponent 3-0 in the Club World Cup final. The Blues are 6th in the league with eight games left to play.

Just five points and two places below them are dark horse European contenders Everton, who have put together a solid season in David Moyes' first full campaign back in charge on Merseyside. The Toffees held league leaders Arsenal for 88 minutes before two late goals, and their defence has been the foundation of their success, currently holding the joint-third best defensive record in the league. Despite having one of the best away records in the league, Everton have struggled in their first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Their 2-0 win against Burnley in their last home game was a welcome victory, as it was their first win there since early December.

It should be a close encounter, with Chelsea looking for a response as they seek to get back into the Champions League. Everton have failed to score against Chelsea in their last four games, but we think that will change against a Blues rearguard lacking players and confidence. That said, David Moyes' side rarely put matches out of reach, only once scoring more than two goals at home this season, and we reckon Chelsea's attacking firepower will beat Jordan Pickford too, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams to score

Both teams have scored in each of Chelsea's last seven away league games, with the Blues only failing to find the back of the net on the road once all season. Meanwhile, Everton have scored in eight of their last ten games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, only being shut out against Arsenal and Manchester United. In what looks like an evenly matched contest, we're predicting a score draw, and picking both teams to score as part of our Everton vs Chelsea bet builder.

Joao Pedro 1+ shots on target

Joao Pedro has been in superb form since Liam Rosenior took charge at Stamford Bridge, and has probably been the standout player of his short managerial reign so far. The Brazilian forward now has eighteen goals and nine assists in all competitions in his debut season for Chelsea, and can operate across the forward line.

The former Brighton man is fresh off a hat-trick in his last away league game at Aston Villa, which made it eight goals and five assists in the last nine games. Pedro has had at least one shot on target in four of his last five, and we're backing him to continue his good form by testing Jordan Pickford at least once.

James Garner to be shown a card

One of Everton's most consistent players this season has been James Garner, who has gone from utility player to one of the first names on the team sheet. He's started every single game this season, playing the third most minutes of any outfield player in the league. Capable of filling in at full back as well as midfield, Garner's fine form has seen him rewarded with a first ever England call-up for the last international break before the World Cup.

Never shy of ducking out of a challenge, Garner has picked up seven yellow cards in the league this season, and with Chelsea expected to have the ball for long periods, we could see Garner collecting another booking. He started at right-back last time out due to defensive injuries, and if that happens again the likelihood will only increase.
