It’s Stoute v Gosden in battle for Arc success this weekend
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is edging ever closer and according to our odds, wonder-filly Enable still holds all of the cards.
John Gosden’s jolly has been increasingly backed in to win the Arc and she now rates as an odds-on shot at 10/11.
With form on her side – the daughter of Nathaniel is a four-time Group 1 winner this term – it’s hard to oppose the filly over course and distance.
But we’re going to try anyway.
Her main opposition comes from Ulysses at 8/1.
Sir Michael Stoute’s charge has been in excellent form this term, claiming the Coral-Eclipse and Juddmonte International Stakes for connections.
Winter, set to be ridden by Ryan Moore, also comes into the reckoning 8/1. Aidan O’Brien’s main charge has a quartet of Group 1 victories to her name this season. At tasty odds, the three-year-old filly gets the nod to manage expectations and the step up in trip.
Dschingis Secret is next up at 12/1. The German raider is a regular winner on the continent and has landed four Group races this term. He’s certainly one to be respected on a course where he claimed the Prix Foy three weeks ago.
Brametot offers similarly impressive form and is a dual winner at Chantilly. Priced at 12/1, there’s a lot to like about the double Group 1 winner. A defeat by over 9l to Eminent last time out is the only downside.
Order of St George finished third for connections last year and is 12/1 to go even better this time around. O’Brien’s five-year-old has won comfortably on his last two appearances and must be respected.
Zarak claimed a first Group 1 victory in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud for connections. He hasn’t raced since July though and will find it much tougher in more elite company at 14/1.
Capri has won the St Leger and the Irish Derby, however, we think the Arc may come slightly too soon for him. He’s 16/1 to bag a hat-trick of black type successes.
Satono Diamond rounds-off the sub-33/1 entries at 20/1.The Japanese charge came up well short on her last appearance at Group level and shouldn’t trouble the leaders here either.
Seventh Heaven and Idaho both come in at 33/1. The O’Brien pair have been inconsistent this season, although the latter did land the Hardwicke Stakes and was a close third in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Cloth of Stars is 40/1, while Silverware, Plumatic and One Foot in Heaven are all available at 66s.
