Ladbrokes' Festive Countdown Day 9: Szoboszlai to test the keeper

Day nine of Ladbrokes' Festive Countdown looks at tonight's Champions League fixtures, with Dominik Szoboszlai tipped to get a shot on target against Inter Milan.

Liverpool haven't been at their best this season, but one of the bright sparks has been the performances of Dominik Szoboszlai.

Whether he's been asked to play in his preferred number 10 position, deeper alongside Ryan Gravenberch, as a right-winger or even a right-back, the Hungarian has excelled and constantly given his all.

That has seen Szoboszlai at the heart of Liverpool's attacks, whether that be putting crosses into the box for his team mates, or even getting shots off on his own.

Szoboszlai shots are the focus of Ladbrokes' Festive Countdown day nine tip, with the Liverpool number eight tipped to test Yann Sommer with a shot on target tonight in Liverpool's match against Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old has registered seven shots on target across his last five games, with one of those coming in Liverpool's last Champions League game, a 4-1 loss to PSV at Anfield in November.

Szoboszlai played as the ten in that game, but with injuries to Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah not in the squad, many are expecting the former Leipzig man to play as a winger once again.

The numbers look even better for Szoboszlai when you expand the pool to his last ten Liverpool matches, with the midfielder averaging a 1.6 shots on target a game during that period.

A lot of those games came when Szoboszlai was playing as a deeper midfielder too, so with a spot on the wing likely, you'd suspect that he'd be closer to goal and able to get more shots off.

Szoboszlai is also one of Liverpool's most trusted players, and is becoming a real leader for Arne Slot. The midfielder is known for his stamina, so also usually always plays 90 minutes when fit and able to.

There's no guarantee this comes in of course, as Szoboszlai did fail to register a shot on target against West Ham last month, but odds of 5/4 represent decent value.
