Chelsea vs Liverpool betting tips and prediction
Mohamed Salah 1+ shots on target
Mo Salah has not quite hit his usual heights in the opening weeks of the campaign, with two goals and two assists in his first six league games. Even so, the Egyptian King remains Liverpool’s main attacking threat and has a good record against Chelsea, scoring eight times across his career against his former club. Given his knack for stepping up in big games, we’re backing him to land a shot on target here.
Moises Caicedo to be booked
Moises Caicedo picked up sixteen yellow cards last season and has already been in the referee’s notebook once in the league this season, and his combative style means he is always in contention for another. The Chelsea midfielder covers huge ground and is vital in breaking up play, but that often comes with the risk of mistimed challenges. Up against Liverpool’s energetic midfield, Caicedo may well find himself forced into a tactical foul that could bring another yellow card.
Both teams to score
Liverpool are joint-second for goals scored in the Premier League and Chelsea are joint-third, so we're expecting the net to bulge on a few occasions again this weekend. Neither team has been too secure defensively either, so we're backing both teams to score, which occurred in each match between the two last season.
Match to end in a draw
Neither side arrives in great form, with Chelsea coming off back-to-back league defeats to Man Utd and Brighton, in which they were reduced to ten men in both. Liverpool have also suffered consecutive losses, to Crystal Palace in the league and then to Galatasaray in the Champions League midweek.
Both sides are missing key players, with Cole Palmer out for an extended period of time for Chelsea, while Alisson and Hugo Ekitike picked up injuries in Liverpool's loss to Galatasaray. With both teams searching for rhythm, we think this one could end up in a draw.
