Rafe's Da Man - Haydock - 1.55 race odds
Aramram - Haydock - 3.40 race odds
Metal Merchant - Haydock - 5.25 race odds
Rafe's Da Man has turned a corner mentally, in the way that he's relaxing in his races now. He did that at Goodwood, and then as a result was able to show how much of a good horse he is. His work at home has never been a question; he's always shown us that he's a very nice horse, and he'll have no problem stepping up to this grade. He's a very good moving horse, so at the moment the ground being as soft as it is might pose some questions, but we're very happy with him and how he's matured physically. If it was good to firm ground, you would say he should be winning. But the ground leaves some questions for us to answer as things stand.
Aramram is next for me, and I've said it before but he's a real favourite of mine. He's an absolute gentleman who does everything he can. He does everything right, and he's obviously stepping back up again to a higher level here, a level where he's been found wanting before. But he's one that has shown he can handle this sort of ground. It's not a massive field, and you could pick holes in his opposition for a lot of reasons. If he handles the ground, he won't be far away. He puts his best foot forward on every run for us.
Metal Merchant is a horse of John Butler's and John has been doing very well up until lately, winning a lot of races with very well-handicapped horses all in great form. This horse has been competitive without winning up to this point, so hopefully this is an opportunity for him to get his head in front.
