The 2026 Six Nations is just around the corner as England, Ireland, France, Scotland, Wales and Italy battle it out to become the top dog in the northern hemisphere.

Ahead of the six-week tournament kicking off on February 5, here is our preview taking you through the favourites, fixtures, confirmed squads and our expert predictions.

Six Nations 2026 preview and favourites

France will look to record back-to-back Six Nations triumphs and go into the tournament as odds-on favourites. They kick off the tournament with a blockbuster encounter against 2023 and 2024 champions Ireland in Paris on Thursday, February 5 in a game which could have a huge bearing on where the 2026 title ends up.

Andy Farrell's men are actually third favourites after a mixed year, with England's impressive 2025 catapulting them to France's main challengers, according to the odds. They kick off their campaign against Wales with Italy and Scotland facing off in the other game in Round 1.

They saw off New Zealand during the Autumn Internationals and undoubtedly have a great chance of their first Six Nations victory since 2020, though there is no doubt that France will be the team to beat, especially with talisman Antoine Dupont returning to the fray.

Scotland are fourth favourites and the only other nation given any realistic chance as they continue to try and disrupt the top-three contenders, with Wales and Italy battling to avoid the wooden spoon.

Six Nations 2026 predictions

Our outright winner prediction: France

Both England and Ireland are worthy challengers to France's crown, but we think a second successive title could be on the cards. That said, we don't see them completing the Grand Slam, with another competitive tournament set to unfold.

So much could lie in the first and last weekends of action, with France beginning against Ireland and ending against England. If the Irish win in Paris in Round 1, expect the whole landscape to flip ahead of what could be a really exciting tournament.
