Match to end in a draw

Former Brighton and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has been called in to save Tottenham's season, and the Italian has seven games to preserve Spurs' Premier League status. They're currently 17th, just one point above the relegation zone. De Zerbi is a highly-rated coach that plays entertaining attacking football, but this is an entirely different situation.

Sunderland have had a dream season back in the top flight, and took their campaign to new heights by coming from behind to beat bitter rivals Newcastle United 2-1 at St. James' Park last time out, completing the double and moving above the Magpies into 11th.

The Black Cats were unbeaten at the Stadium of Light until February, but have now suffered three successive home defeats, which will give Spurs encouragement. Tottenham picked up a crucial draw at Anfield in their last away league game, with every point vital at this stage of the season. We think De Zerbi will have enough of an impact to galvanise this Spurs side to a draw against a Sunderland with little left to play for, and we're predicting it to be an entertaining 2-2.

Both teams to score

To go with our 2-2 prediction, for the next leg of our Sunderland vs Spurs bet builder we're selecting both teams to score. Tottenham's leaky defence has been at the centre of their troubles this season, possessing the fourth-worst defensive record in the division. Both teams have scored in four of Spurs' last five away Premier League games, while Sunderland have scored in 80% of their games at the Stadium of Light this season.

Richarlison 1+ shots on target

Roberto De Zerbi's first Spurs lineup is a bit of an unknown, but given their mountain of injuries in wide areas, it seems likely that Richarlison will start. The Brazil international knows what it takes to battle against the drop, having dragged Everton out of relegation trouble on numerous occasions, and he would have scarcely believed he'd face it again in North London.

After returning from injury, he's appeared in the last five games and started the last two, and is averaging 2.79 shots on target per 90 minutes across that stretch. It was Richarlison that scored Tottenham's deserved late equaliser at Liverpool, and we're tipping him to make an impact again by having at least one shot on target.

Granit Xhaka to be shown a card

Few players have had a greater influence on their team this season than Granit Xhaka, who has been a revelation since his move to Wearside from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. He took control of the Tyne-Wear derby in the second half, with his pass leading to Brian Brobbey's late winner. Xhaka is renowned for his tough-tackling style, although he has matured as he's aged, but it was perhaps surprising that he didn't pick up a booking in either derby.

He has collected five bookings so far in the league this season, including one in Sunderland's previous home game agianst Brighton. In his years as an Arsenal player, he was often in the heat of the battle of the North London derby, and he's been booked seven times in his career against Tottenham. We think the Swiss international could add to that tally here.
