Verdict
Palmeira has the best form but FORTIFICATION has some potential. Archie Watson's gelding was an expensive purchase at the breeze-ups, and after encouraging runs at Bath and Ripon in the first half of the year he can now progress past Eve Johnson Houghton's filly, who sets the standard on her narrow defeat in a Listed race at Newbury in the summer. Market support for one of the newcomers would be significant, but as things stand third choice is Havana Jag.[Richard O'Brien]
