Aston Villa will hope to stay within reach of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League when they welcome Everton to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Villa have lost just once in their last 15 games in all competitions and remain level on points with Manchester City in third. Unai Emery's side will hope to return to winning ways in the Premier League after being held away at Crystal Palace last time out.

Everton have struggled of late, winning just once in their last seven games and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Sunderland on penalties last weekend. They come to a ground they are yet to win at in six league visits since Villa's return to the Premier League in 2019.

We are predicting Aston Villa to continue their formidable home record against Everton on Sunday afternoon and keep themselves among the teams chasing down Arsenal at the top of the table.

The two drew 0-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in September but the two clubs have gone in opposite directions since then, with Villa in excellent shape and Everton struggling. With key stars missing for the Toffees, Villa should get another three points on the board at Villa Park.

After an overall disappointing campaign in front of goal, Ollie Watkins has started getting himself on the scoresheet in recent weeks, which usually means there will be more on their way for the increasingly-confident England man.

The Villa man has also scored five goals in previous meetings with the Toffees and he looks well-placed to improve on that record at home.

James Garner is as nailed on as any Everton player to start at Villa Park given their injuries and absences and is never one to shy away from a tough tackle in the centre of the park.

The midfielder has picked up four yellow cards already this season and with the threshold for a suspension now increased to 10, he will have the freedom to assert his physicality in order to try and disrupt Villa's rhythm on the ball.

Villa rarely lose at home but clean sheets are still something of a rarity for Emery's side, with their stalemate at Selhurst Park just their fifth in the Premier League this season.

Everton have averaged just over a goal per game in the top flight this term and should get ample chances to find the net at Villa Park, so we're backing both teams to score.
