Ben Jones Boxing Day rides schedule

1.20 - Kempton - Thomas Mor

Thomas Mor is the first of four rides I've got at Kempton on Boxing Day, for Philip Hobbs and Johnson White in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase. He's stepping up in grade and I've only saddled him once before at Ascot, but he jumps really well and I think he'll appreciate the step up in trip over fences. His last run around Ascot was very promising under a highly rated [Nicky] Henderson horse in Lucky Place.

I don't think he's that far wrong with the ratings, and so if everything goes right for him then hopefully he shouldn't be too far away.

2.30 - Kempton - The Jukebox Man

Obviously the big one of the day is The Jukebox Man in the King George. He seems in brilliant order at home, and Ben [Pauling] has been very bullish about the way he's been working. You know, to look at, he looks a million dollars, and so much bigger and stronger than he was this time last year. His first run at Haydock was brilliant, and it was great to see he's still got the enthusiasm and the engine he had last season. He didn't beat the same kind of company that he'll face on Boxing Day, but he couldn't have won that day in a better way, really.

New Ladbrokes Offer

I think the step up in grade against some top-class horses means we're going to find out a lot more about him, but the race should suit him and I'd expect someone else to do the donkey work for us. Hopefully he can just travel and jump as I know he can, and he can find his comfort zone, and if we're there three out, we'll give him a kick and see what happens. I'm very much looking forward to riding him... to be honest I'd give up all of my rides on the day, and across the weekend, just to ride him in this.

3.05 - Kempton - Lock Stock

Then it's Lock Stock for Ben Pauling in the novices' hurdle, and he's a horse who has ran four times for us, and finished second four times. He's been a bit unlucky in just constantly bumping into one, but he ran really well the last day, just missing the last which probably cost him the race. He's one who doesn't really show a whole lot at home, but once he gets to the track, he shows a lot more.

He's one that goes under the radar but will always deliver for us. He's one of two that Ben's got in this race, with Jimbo Sport being another real nice one for us - but I'd like to think that Lock Stock - with a little bit more experience behind him -- can go well here. Like I said, he's one that goes under the radar, and I suspect he'll be a good each-way bet.

Best odds guaranteed

3.40 - Kempton - George's Lad

I finish the day with George's Lad for Emma Lavelle - I don't know a whole lot about him but he's held in high regards by Emma. He's one that just travels through his races really nicely, and he looks like he jumps really well. He's in tip top form and Emma is very much looking forward to seeing him run here, so hopefully he'll have a good chance as well.

I've got a nice book of rides all round, really; four nice looking horses, all with really good chances. He may not be my definite best chance, but of course I'd say the horse I'd be telling people to follow for the day would be The Jukebox Man... it's unknown waters for him, but hopefully he can show everyone what we think is under the bonnet.
