1.30 - Underwriting Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (Class 3) (4yo+) - No Questions Asked
We start the day at Ascot with No Questions Asked - who would probably be my best chance. He's favourite in this one and his schooling at home couldn't have gone much better, really. He's been fantastic and I'm really looking forward to getting him out. We're hoping for a bit of rain, and we want to get him out there, but if the ground isn't how we want it, there's a chance he won't run. Hopefully the ground is safe, though, and we can see him in action because I'm really excited about him.
2.05 - Grundon Waste Management Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+) - General Medrano
We've got General Medrano in the handicap chase, and I had a lot of success with this one last year. I schooled him this morning and he's very fresh and well. Emma [Lavelle]'s are in great form at the moment, and if he can put his best foot forward and repeat the kind of things he was doing last year, he'll definitely have an each-way chance here.
3.10 - Lavazza Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) (Class 2) (3yo+) - Indemnity
Indemnity is another one I schooled this morning, and I'm very happy with him going into this handicap hurdle. He's one who is climbing the ranks at the minute and is a horse Harry Cobden speaks highly of. He's obviously stepping up in class and grade, but if he can get himself into a nice rhythm early doors, I'd say he's got a really good chance of doing something here... he's probably my second-best chance of the day.
3.45 - Sodexo Live! Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+) - Henry's Friend
Henry's Friend is an old legend, and one with who you just get what's on the tin, really. He tries his heart out every time. He's a course and distance winner so will come here with every chance. Whether or not he needs a little run remains to be seen, but Ben [Pauling]'s seem to have been running well first time out this season, so hopefully we'll see more of the same here. If we do, then we've got a great chance.
4.20 - Roundtable Open National Hunt Flat Race (Category 1 Elimination) (GBB Race) (Class 2) (4-5yo) - Dartmouth Jet
Dartmouth Jet isn't one I know too much about, but John Burke won on him at Worcester last month and said he really liked him there. Obviously he's got a penalty for winning on that day, but at least he's got a bit of experience on his side. On paper it looks like a decent little race, but I've only heard good things about this one; he's a very straight-forward ride who should turn into the home straight with every chance. Hopefully he's good enough to get us to that point, and if he steps forward and builds on that win at Worcester, then of course we've got every chance.
To be honest, it's not a bad book of rides I've got for the day - I'm really looking forward to it.
