With the semi-finals about to start, it seems like the perfect time to make a prediction of which two teams will be victorious in their ties and get to the final.

France vs Spain sees arguably the two best teams in the competition face off, with the duo backed as the two favourites before a ball was kicked.

The French have undoubtedly performed better than their counterparts after blowing away most in their path in the group stages and early knockouts, before edging through with more narrow but hard-fought wins over Paraguay and Morocco.

Spain haven't blown many teams away but have continued their remarkable run in recent years, with the Euro 2024 winners last losing a game at a major tournament all the way back at Qatar 2022. Mikel Merino goals have seen them dispatch tough opposition in Portugal and Belgium, and they will believe they have more than a chance of beating France after knocking them out at this stage at the European Championship two years ago and in the Nations League semi-finals in 2025.

That said, France also have a pretty sensational recent World Cup record as they aim for a third consecutive final, and we think they have showed more of an edge at this tournament and get better of their European rivals.

The second of two blockbuster semi-final encounters sees England and Argentina reignite their rivalry on the world stage. For England, it would be their first World Cup final since 1966, while Argentina are hoping to defend their status as world champions.

Both teams have had to dig deep in some nervy moments in the knockout stages to squeeze their way to this stage, making the most of their elite quality to get over the line on more than one occasion.

We have backed a 1-1 draw in normal time in our bet builder tips, but here we are going to say England will join France in the final, with Argentina not looking the team they were at Qatar 2022 and signs they may be running out of steam.

An England vs France final was one of the leading pairings in the market before the tournament kicked off, and it is now the favourite in Ladbrokes' odds with a price of 19/10.
