Dan Skelton: Hidden Heroics and Too Friendly can go well at Cheltenham
Published:
Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton gives us the lowdown on Friday’s eight runners at Cheltenham and Doncaster.
He has a massive chance here. I hope it goes ahead as our horse will love the ground. He was much better the last day with a pair of cheekpieces on and ridden prominently. I’d have to say he is a player.
He has been to all the big dances and has done really well in them. He is probably quite productive at Cheltenham as well. I don’t mind the trip, albeit a new one for him. He won’t start favourite but he will go and run well because he always does.

I think Too Friendly can go one better than last time. He definitely has a chance. I believe it is worth stepping him up in trip in time too. This is a real staying track and we have to give it a go. There is obviously two progressive horses at the top of the betting who will be hard to beat but he did put in a nice performance last time.
He has a significantly better chance than he had the last day. He was right at the deep end in a Grade 2 that day. We don’t come here without a chance. I think one thing we learned from the last day is that he is crying out for three miles. We will see where we stand after this.

He ran really well at Bangor the last day coming second. That was two weeks ago so he gets out pretty quickly. He has come down to a nice mark and he will be competitive. This is for older horses, with the youngest being 10yo. I wouldn’t say he should be favourite but he does have a chance.
He is coming back from an injury and didn’t really get out of bed at Newbury the last day. It will all come right for him I am sure, but it’s just not happening for him at the moment. He had that little injury when he fell in Spring and it’s just not there at the moment. He has been a phenomenally good horse though and has won 14 races!
He comes back from a wind op. He has been a little bit in and out at home but he is only four. On form, he isn’t badly handicapped. I want to get him started and see where the season takes us.
Gregor showed nothing last time and I do not know why. It was a surprise. This is really nice ground which he has been productive on in the past and it’ll give us an idea of what we will do next.
