Manchester City vs Newcastle United: Carabao Cup semi-final betting tips, odds & predictions
Ladbrokes previews the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg between Man City and Newcastle
City hold 2-0 lead from first leg
Holders Newcastle haven't won at the Etihad since 2014

The Carabao Cup is approaching its final stages, and on Wednesday night Manchester City host Newcastle United in the second leg of their semi-final. Ladbrokes brings you its odds, predictions and bet builder tips as City look to safely nurture a 2-0 lead advantage from the first leg and secure passage to Wembley.
Man City may have stumbled again in their Premier League title charge, throwing away a two-goal lead at Tottenham, but will fancy their chances against an inconsistent Newcastle side and see this as a great opportunity to secure silverware. City have won this trophy on eight occasions, while the Magpies will be desperate not to give up the Carabao Cup, which they won for the first time in 2025, without a fight.

Man City vs Newcastle bet builder tips
Man City to win in 90 minutes
City hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg at St. James' Park, and we're predicting that they will get the job done in fairly comfortable fashion, winning the second leg outright in 90 minutes.
Newcastle have a terrible record at the Etihad, with just one win in their twenty-two visits to the ground, which came in the last 16 of this competition in 2014.
With Bruno Guimaraes still missing through injury, the prospects of a Toon comeback appear remote, and we expect their defence of their Carabao Cup crown to come to an end in Manchester.
Antoine Semenyo 1+ shots on target
Antoine Semenyo has made a flying start to his Manchester City career, with four goals in his first five appearances, including the opening goal at St. James' Park a few weeks ago.
Pep Guardiola will be delighted the Ghanaian winger has hit the ground running, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden going through lean spells, and Jeremy Doku and now potentially Rayan Cherki injured.
Newcastle's first choice right-back Tino Livramento, a long-term City target, is out and Kieran Trippier appeared vulnerable in their 4-1 defeat at Anfield, so we're tipping Semenyo to continue his good form by landing a shot on target.
Over 3.5 goals
We've predicted a 3-1 win for Man City, so for the third leg of our bet builder we're going with over 3.5 goals. This selection landed in the last game for each team, with City drawing 2-2 at Spurs and Newcastle going a goal up before losing 4-1 to Liverpool. Defensive injuries continue to afflict both sides, so we reckon this one could end up being a high-scoring affair.
Bernardo Silva to get booked
Bernardo Silva has been a magnificent servant over the years for Man City, fulfilling a range of roles to a high standard from right-wing to left-back, and the 31-year-old now primarily operates as a deeper central midfielder alongside Rodri. His quality on the ball remains unquestionable, but his athleticism has dipped and he's picked up nine yellow cards this season, more than any other City player.
Although Newcastle will be without Guimaraes and Joelinton, their midfield's hallmark is intensity and physicality, which the likes of Sandro Tonali, Jacob Ramsey and Joe Willock provide in abundance. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Bernardo deploy one of City's trademark tactical fouls, resulting in a booking.
