Next Manchester United manager odds: Carrick firm favourite after winning start

• Michael Carrick is the overwhelming favourite to be appointed Manchester United's next permanent manager

• The interim boss has won all three of his games in charge so far and is 4/7 to continue into next season

• Oliver Glasner remains second favourite but his odds are now 6/1

Michael Carrick is the odds-on favourite become Manchester United's next permanent manager after an impressive start to life as interim boss.

The former United midfielder has overseen an impressive four wins out of five to lift the mood at Old Trafford, and Ladbrokes now predict Carrick to land the role beyond this season.

Carrick is just 4/7 to be Man Utd boss on the opening day of 2026/27, with second-favourite Oliver Glasner falling back to 6/1.

Man Utd looked to be in a tricky place when Rubem Amorim was sacked at the start of January, but Carrick seems to have had a transformative effect on the mood at the club since being installed as interim.

The former Middlesbrough manager had been way back in the list of potential successors to Amorim but after four straight wins and a draw, Carrick now appears nailed on to convince Red Devils chiefs to hand him the gig permanently.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said:

If this is Michael Carrick's audition for the permanent job, then the odds suggest he could well be a shoo-in to make it past the end of the season.

Glasner had been previously neck-and-neck with Carrick in the next United manager odds after announcing he is set to depart Crystal Palace at the end of the season. However, the Australian has now fallen to 6/1.

England boss Thomas Tuchel is third in the market at 10/1, with Roberto De Zerbi (12/1) fourth ahead of Gareth Southgate, Marco Silva and Unai Emery (all 16/1).
