Our predictions for Manchester United vs Everton
Match Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Everton.
Manchester United have been in fine fettle lately, with three wins in their last five games, showing they can grind out results even when not at their best. Their recent draws against Tottenham and Nottingham Forest suggest they might be vulnerable to a counter-attack, but their attacking flair, as seen in the 4-2 win over Brighton, could be the key to unlocking Everton's defence.
Everton, on the other hand, has had a mixed bag, with two wins, two losses, and a draw in their recent outings. They'll be looking to exploit any defensive lapses from United, especially after their solid 2-0 victory against Fulham, but their inconsistency might be their Achilles' heel in this matchup.

Form Guide & Team Overview
Manchester United
Manchester United's recent form has been impressive, with three wins and two draws in their last five games. Their ability to score goals, as evidenced by the 4-2 win against Brighton and the 2-1 victory over Liverpool, shows they have the firepower to trouble any defence.
However, the two draws against Tottenham and Nottingham Forest indicate they might need to tighten up at the back to secure all three points against Everton. If they can maintain their attacking momentum while shoring up their defence, they should be in a strong position to win this game.
Recent Premier League Results:
Draw: 2-2 vs Tottenham (A)
Draw: 2-2 vs Nottingham Forest (A)
Win: 4-2 vs Brighton (H)
Win: 2-1 vs Liverpool (A)

Everton
Everton have had a rollercoaster of a run recently, with two wins, two losses, and a draw in their last five matches. Their 2-0 win against Fulham shows they can be solid at the back and clinical in attack, but the losses to Tottenham and Manchester City highlight their vulnerability against top teams.
If they can replicate their performance against Fulham and keep things tight at the back, they might just pull off an upset against Manchester United. However, their inconsistency could be their downfall in this fixture.
Recent Premier League Results:
Win: 2-0 vs Fulham (H)
Draw: 1-1 vs Sunderland (A)
Loss: 0-3 vs Tottenham (H)
Loss: 0-2 vs Manchester City (A)
Win: 2-1 vs Crystal Palace (H)
Head-to-Head Record
The head-to-head record between Manchester United and Everton has been closely contested recently, with two draws in their last two meetings. However, Manchester United have had the upper hand in the past, securing convincing wins in three of the last five encounters, including a 4-0 thrashing in December 2024. This suggests that while Everton can hold their own against United, the Red Devils have the edge when it comes to decisive victories.

Team News & Injury Report
Manchester United
Lisandro Martínez (Knee) - Out
Benjamin Šeško (Knee) - Out
Kobbie Mainoo (Knock) - Doubt
Update
Ruben Amorim says Manchester United’s recent unbeaten run has made them “more dominant” and “more competitive in every way” – but insists they can’t get carried away ahead of Monday night’s home clash with Everton. Reflecting on his first year in charge, he admitted he knew there would be struggles adapting to the Premier League, but describes it as “the best league in the world, maybe the best club,” and wants his players to treat every game “like it is the last one” despite three wins and two draws in their last five.
There was a mixed injury update from the United boss. Benjamin Sesko will be out for a few weeks, though Amorim stressed it is “not that serious” and he expects the striker back around the time Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo depart for the Africa Cup of Nations. Harry Maguire is not ready to return, while Kobbie Mainoo missed training today but there is hope he will be involved tomorrow. Lisandro Martínez is “clearly in a better position” in his recovery and could fill in as a holding midfielder only in an emergency, with Amorim keen not to rush him. Luke Shaw, meanwhile, is seen as capable of operating as a left wing-back as well as in a back three, with the manager praising his intelligence and fitness for the role.
On Afcon, Amorim confirmed United are trying to keep Mbeumo and Amad a little longer before they report for international duty, even though the rules state players should be released around two weeks before the tournament starts.

Everton
Jarrad Branthwaite (Hamstring) - Out
Update
David Moyes has confirmed that Merlin Rohl has had a minor hernia operation and will be sidelined for “a few weeks”. Jarrad Branthwaite remains out following hamstring surgery, while Nathan Patterson is also still unavailable.
On transfers, Moyes played down talk of Everton operating at the £60m end of the market in January, stressing the club are still rebuilding under the new owners and focusing on getting back onto “solid ground” rather than “shooting for the stars” straight away.
He was far more emphatic on James Garner’s future, dismissing rumours of a departure and making it clear Everton want to keep him long term.
“There is absolutely no interest in letting [James] Garner go.
“I don't know where the news comes from. But if I said that the phone's been ringing here and it's been phoning about Jimmy Garner, then I would be telling absolute lies. There's been no phone calls into my phone or anybody that I know of, regarding Jimmy Garner.
“Obviously we will look to renew his contract when we are ready to do so.” David Moyes
Lineups & Tactical Setup
Manchester United (3-4-2-1)
Predicted lineup: Lammens (GK), De Ligt (DF), Maguire (DF), Shaw (DF), Mazraoui (MF), Casemiro (MF), Fernandes (MF), Dorgu (MF), Mbeumo (MF), Diallo (MF), Cunha (AT)
With a strong backline featuring De Ligt, Maguire, and Shaw, Manchester United should focus on maintaining a solid defensive structure while allowing Mazraoui and Fernandes to push forward and support the attack. The inclusion of Diallo and Cunha in attack suggests a focus on quick, incisive attacking play to break down Everton's defence.

Everton (4-2-3-1)
Predicted lineup: Pickford (GK), Garner (DF), Tarkowski (DF), Keane (DF), Mykolenko (DF), Iroegbunam (MF), Gueye (MF), Ndiaye (MF), Dewsbury-Hall (MF), Grealish (MF), Barry (AT)
Everton's predicted lineup indicates a focus on a solid defensive setup with Garner, Tarkowski, Keane, and Mykolenko, aiming to frustrate Manchester United's attack. The midfield duo of Iroegbunam and Gueye will need to work hard to control the game's tempo and provide support to Barry up front.

Key Battles & Players to Watch
Cunha vs Tarkowski: This will be a crucial battle between Manchester United's dynamic attacker and Everton's experienced defender.
Mbeumo vs Gueye: The duel between Manchester United's creative force and Everton's hardworking midfielder could be key to controlling the game's flow.
Cunha (Manchester United): Cunha's ability to find the back of the net makes him a vital player for Manchester United's attacking threat.
Barry (Everton): Barry's role as the lone striker for Everton means he'll be crucial in leading the line and converting any chances that come his way.
