Cincinnati Bengals vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Joe Burrow and the Bengals haven't made the postseason in three years since their AFC Championship defeat to the Chiefs, having been Super Bowl runners-up the year before. There is optimism that Cincinnati are real contenders this year if Burrow remains healthy, with wide receiver duo Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins the best in the NFL. They lost Trey Hendrickson on defense but the additions of Dexter Lawrence and Jonathan Allen softens that blow. Tampa Bay tied QB Baker Mayfield down to a new deal and that will keep them in contention for the NFC South, but his favourite target Mike Evans has joined the 49ers. We think the Bengals cover the spread at home.

Detroit Lions vs New Orleans Saints

Detroit disappointingly missed the playoffs in 2025, after going 15-2 the previous year. They are still chasing a first Super Bowl appearance, and the Lions arguably have the most talent of any team on offense, but their defense - particularly their secondary - has repeatedly been a problem in recent years. That could be set to continue, with key players Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph missing for at least the first month, and former first-round cornerback released due to an off-field issue. Second-year Saints QB Tyler Shough impressed in the second half of last year, and star receiver Chris Olave could have a big day. We're taking the over on the points total, which is 48.5.

Houston Texans vs Buffalo Bills

Superstar Bills QB Josh Allen is 0-4 on the road in Houston, with just two total touchdowns in those games. This could be another struggle, with previous offensive coordinator Joe Brady replacing the fired Sean McDermott, and the Texans' fearsome defense going up against Buffalo's shaky offensive line. It's a big year for Houston QB CJ Stroud who performed poorly in the playoffs and has struggled to live up to his early promise, but the addition of running-back David Montgomery will help a lot. We're predicting a Texans outright win.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Washington Commanders

Saquon Barkley has made a career out of tormenting the Washington Commanders. In 12 games against them for the Eagles and Giants, Saquon has rushed for 1,222 yards and scored 13 touchdowns - averaging more than 100 yards and a touchdown per game. We're backing Barkley to find the endzone once again in this NFC East matchup.
