The busy festive period is in full swing in the Premier League, and this weekend serves up a clash between two of the top four, as Manchester City travel to Crystal Palace. Ladbrokes runs through its betting tips and predictions ahead of Sunday's meeting at Selhurst Park, with Pep Guardiola's side looking to continue to put pressure on leaders Arsenal.

Crystal Palace have had Pep's number in recent meetings, famously winning the FA Cup final 1-0 back in May before defeating City again in the Community Shield on penalties. Oliver Glasner's men have continued their good form into this season and currently sit 4th in the Premier League, but are without a win in their last two home games.

Man City haven't entirely convinced on their travels this year, losing three times in the league away from home this season, but are fresh off a morale-boosting 2-1 win at the Bernabeu. Their previous away league game was an enthralling 5-4 win at Fulham, and there are signs that their attack is starting to click into high gear. With the gap to Arsenal at the top of the table narrowed to two points, we're predicting City to avenge the cup final defeat and pick up a crucial victory at Selhurst Park.

Erling Haaland continues to score goals at an astonishing pace, with his penalty against Real Madrid in the Champions League taking his tally to twenty-one in all competitions. With fifteen in the league, he is leading the Golden Boot race once again, and his record against Palace is good, with six goals in five games against them. We're tipping him to continue that streak this weekend by finding the net en route to a City victory.

JP Mateta has developed into a top-class centre forward under Oliver Glasner and has thirty-seven Premier League goals since the start of the 2023/24 season, form that's seen him earn call-ups to the France squad. Unfortunately for Palace he picked up a minor knock on international duty and was rested for their Conference League win over Shelbourne, but started last weekend's win at Fulham and should be good to go here. Five of his seven goals this season have come at Selhurst Park, and he's averaging 1.47 shots on target per game this season. We're backing Mateta to land another shot on target here.

A major positive for City in recent weeks has been the return to form of Phil Foden, who has five goals and an assist across the last three Premier League games. Operating more centrally behind Haaland, with Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki out wide, Pep appears to have finally settled on a preferred structure - but we know what he's like! Foden has had at least two shots in the last five games, averaging 3.39 per game across that stretch. He's in fine form and full of confidence, so we think he'll be trigger happy again and have at least two shots here.
