Premier League: Newcastle United vs Manchester City odds, betting tips and predictions

The Premier League is back with a bang after the international break, and as part of a weekend stacked with big games Newcastle United host Manchester City at St. James' Park.

Ladbrokes runs through its odds, betting tips and predictions as 2nd-placed City travel to Tyneside to take on a Magpies side that have underwhelmed so far this season domestically.

Erling Haaland is running away with the Golden Boot race, and he continued his remarkable goalscoring form over the break by scoring another four goals in two games for Norway. He's got 14 in 11 Premier League games, and we're backing him to get on the scoresheet again at St. James' Park.

Newcastle's attack has struggled in the immediate post-Alexander Isak era, but it's through no fault of his replacement Nick Woltemade. The big German striker has six goals in all competitions for the Toon and added another three for his country over the break. We think he'll continue that good form by landing a shot on target here.

Magpies skipper Guimaraes has often been linked with a move to Manchester City in the past and will be keen to leave his mark on this one. The Newcastle midfield has been central to their rise up the league table but has been out of sorts this campaign, and Eddie Howe could shuffle it around after poor losses at West Ham and Brentford. Bruno is assured to start though, and we think he could add to this three bookings so far this season.

St. James' Park is one of the toughest grounds in the country to play at but Newcastle have not been themselves this season and currently sit 14th in the table, two points above the relegation places, though they have impressed in the Champions League.

City haven't been entirely convincing themselves, but remain Arsenal's closest challengers for the title. Newcastle have lost close games at home to Arsenal and Liverpool in stoppage time already this season, and we think Pep's men could edge a crucial narrow victory in the North East.
