Aston Villa
Ladbrokes brings you tips for PSG vs Aston Villa in the Super Cup final at Stadion Salzburg in Austria on Wednesday, August 12, with kick-off at 20:00 BST
Our prediction is PSG 2-1 Aston Villa, with Villa capable of troubling PSG’s back line
PSG’s likely front three could include Ibrahim Mbaye, who is tipped for shot on target, with several senior attackers managing their way back to full match sharpness

Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa meet in Salzburg for the Super Cup, with the Champions League holders taking on the Europa League winners in the traditional curtain-raiser to the European club season.
It is also a repeat of a lively Champions League quarter-final from 2025, when PSG edged Villa 5-4 on aggregate despite losing the second leg at Villa Park. PSG arrive with the stronger continental pedigree, but Villa have already shown they can score against Luis Enrique’s side, which makes this an intriguing match from a Bet Builder angle.

PSG are Champions League holders, and defending Super Cup winners, but there's a bit of caution built into the Double Chance angle. PSG came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Tottenham in last season’s Super Cup and Villa also pushed them hard over two legs in 2025. However, PSG's depth and Villa’s fitness doubts make the holders difficult to oppose across the 90 minutes, so the win-or-draw leg keeps the main PSG angle covered while respecting the early-season uncertainty.
The previous meetings between these clubs produced goals at both ends, giving Villa four goals across the tie. It showed they can create against PSG even when they are not controlling the game. PSG also conceded twice against Tottenham in last season’s Super Cup, which is relevant because these start-of-the-season finals can have a slightly open feel, especially when fitness levels are still building.
Ibrahim Mbaye looks an interesting inclusion. With Barcola, Dembele and Doue all fitness doubts, the door may open up for Mbaye minutes. Mbaye’s Ligue 1 numbers also support the shot-on-target angle: he had 10 shots on target from 24 league appearances last season, despite starting only 10 times. He also scored for PSG in their latest friendly against Manchester United and had a busy pre-season role.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia comes into this fixture as PSG’s most reliable attacking selection. He enjoyed a standout Champions League campaign last season, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances. He also scored in PSG’s 3-1 win over Villa in the 2025 tie and had seven shots across the two legs against them. With Kvaratskhelia enjoying an uninterrupted pre-season and likely to be central to PSG’s attacking play from the left, the anytime scorer leg seems sensible.
