Two underperforming members of the Premier League's so-called 'big six' face off on Saturday evening as Tottenham host Liverpool.

Thomas Frank is under pressure as Spurs boss after just one win in their last seven league matches has them languishing in 11th, their most recent defeat being a poor 3-0 reverse away at Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool are a few places above in seventh after struggling to mount a successful title defence so far this season, leaving them as outsiders to be crowned champions again in 2025/26, although there are signs they are turning a corner after a four-game unbeaten run in the top flight ahead of this game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This is an encounter that has produced a whopping 31 total goals across the last four league meetings and, with neither side particularly impressing defensively this season, we are expecting that trend to continue on Saturday.

This fixture ended 6-3 to Liverpool around this time last year and while Spurs have shifted from their all-out-attack style they deployed under Ange Postecoglou, all the signs point to another early Christmas present for the neutral with plenty of action to enjoy. Another player who looks to be finding his feet since a summer move is Tottenham's Xavi Simons, who has registered three goal contributions across his last two home games and is becoming something of a focal point in Frank's attack.

As we've established, this could be a game where both sides excel going forward much more than they do at the back, handing a good opportunity for the Dutch playmaker to chip in with another assist to the likes of Mohammed Kudus or Randal Kolo Muani, both of whom he has shown promising signs of linking up with of late.
