Ayr Gold Cup Ladbrokes press release

Old foes Stiliyan Petrov and Alan Hutton will reunite once again at the Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Festival later this month.

The former Aston Villa players, and Celtic and Rangers legends, will play a key role in the first year of Ladbrokes' sponsorship of the iconic sprint handicap, conducting the draw together on the morning of the final declarations on September 18.

Petrov & Hutton set for Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup reunion

The £180,000 race itself will take place on Saturday 20th September, with Almeraq currently heading the betting at 7/1 with the title sponsors, while last year's winner, Lethal Levi, is a 16/1 shot.

Petrov and Hutton – who also spent a year as teammates at Villa in 2012 – will team up once again to carry out the draw an hour after final declarations for the big race, with the ballot for the 25 stalls positions taking place at 11am.

Ladbrokes' Head of PR, Alex Apati, said: We're delighted to be associated with Scotland's biggest and most valuable flat race. All eyes will be on the Gold Cup draw on Thursday morning; it's only right we bring along a couple of Old Firm favourites for a helping hand!
