Sunderland vs Burnley: Premier League preview, predictions & bet builder tips
Ladbrokes previews Sunderland vs Burnley in the Premier League, with predicted lineups
Brian Brobbey backed to impress in a routine Sunderland victory
Kyle Walker tipped to pick up his eighth booking of a challenging campaign

As two of last season's promoted sides prepare to go head-to-head, Ladbrokes shares its Sunderland vs Burnley preview and predictions, with expert bet builder tips.
Sunderland have enjoyed an incredible return to Premier League action after eight years away, still clinging on to genuine hopes of securing European football under Regis Le Bris, and enter February as the only side to still boast an unbeaten home record in the league.
That highlights the size of the challenge ahead of Scott Parker's Burnley, who find themselves 10 points from safety with the second-worst away record in the division - but a 2-0 win over the Black Cats back in August suggests they have a very real chance of picking up the points on Monday night.

Our predictions for Sunderland vs Burnley
Our prediction: Sunderland 2-0 Burnley
Still unbeaten at home and just a handful of points off the top six, Sunderland couldn't have hoped for a much better season thus far, and we're firmly expecting them to build on it at home to a Burnley side who are now odds-on to drop straight back to the Championship.
The Clarets have picked up just one win on the road this term, and come into this one in the thick of a 14-game winless run, so the odds are stacked against them as they head to the Stadium of Light. We're predicting a pretty routine home win for Sunderland, with Burnley failing to score on another disappointing away day.

Brian Brobbey to have 2+ shots on target
A common theme of Burnley's recent defeats is the opposition having plenty of shots on target, with the Clarets conceding at least 10 shots on their goal in each of their last three - so we're backing Sunderland hitman Brian Brobbey to try his luck with at least two shots on target at the Stadium of Light.
The Dutch striker has scored in three of his last four Premier League games, taking his tally for the season to five, and will be sure to get a sniff at goal against the league's second-leakiest defence. Martin Dubravka has been a very busy man in the Burnley net, averaging more than four saves per game, and we can see Brian Brobbey testing him again on Monday night as Sunderland seek revenge for August's defeat at Turf Moor.
We're expecting Brobbey to have an enjoyable night, and we're backing the number nine to have 2+ shots on target against Burnley.
Under 2.5 goals to be scored
Despite Sunderland's excellent league position, only Nottingham Forest and rock-bottom Wolves have scored fewer goals than the Black Cats' 24 this season - and as Burnley are only one up with 25, we're not expecting a goal-fest at the Stadium of Light.
14 of Sunderland's 23 Premier League games have ended with under 2.5 goals this term, with the Black Cats keeping things tight at the back while lacking a real cutting edge up top, and we're predicting much of the same on Monday night. Without any standout attackers on the pitch, and two excellent goalkeepers in between the sticks, we're backing the defences to come out on top in this clash between two of last season's Championship success stories.
As a result, we're tipping under 2.5 goals to be scored in this one, with a low-scoring game in store between two relatively out-of-form sides.
Kyle Walker to be shown a card
With seven yellow cards in the 2025/26 Premier League season, Kyle Walker is far and away the most booked Burnley player this term, and we're tipping him to pick up another card here. Whoever lines up on the Sunderland left will be pacey, direct, and difficult for the veteran defender to stop, so he seems a decent pick in the cards markets ahead of Monday night.
Averaging more than a foul a game, Walker is never too far away from catching the referee's attention, and with Burnley averaging the lowest possession in the entire league (40%), the defensive unit are kept very busy. They do rank very highly for interceptions, however, only behind Chelsea, which suggests that despite having their backs against the wall, they defend on the front foot and look to pounce when they can.
With that in mind, we're tipping Kyle Walker to pick up another yellow card here, with the sharp full back always looking to nick the ball away - but we think he will be a touch late on an occasion or two.
Sunderland to win at home to Burnley
Closing out our Sunderland vs Burnley preview and predictions, we're backing the hosts to pick up a valuable three points against one of the relegation favourites, maintaining their unbeaten record at home and heaping further pressure on Scott Parker.
Sunderland have only scored one goal in their last four meetings with Burnley, and have beaten them just once in the league since 2015, so they'll need to buck a recent trend if they're to get anything here - but we think they'll do exactly that. The Black Cats have already picked up results against the likes of Arsenal, Man City, and Chelsea this season, and with Burnley coming into this one without a win since October, we can only see one winner.
Ladbrokes is predicting a routine Sunderland win on Monday night, with Regis Le Bris' side keeping touch with those around them in the European hunt.
