UEFA Super Cup betting tips: PSG vs Spurs prediction and odds

Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham go in search of more European glory in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday night.

Both PSG and Spurs appear in the annual curtain raiser for the European football season for the first time after their respective Champions League and Europa League triumphs in the last campaign.

PSG were crowned European champions for the first time in their history in style as they beat Inter Milan 5-0 in the final in May, with Spurs ending a 17-year trophy drought by seeing off Premier League rivals Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.

Luis Enrique's side will be expected to challenge for more major honours in 2025/26, while their opponents start the season with a new manager at the helm after replacing Ange Postecoglou with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

PSG are heavy favourites for this encounter and their stacked set of forwards are expected to have plenty of shots against a Tottenham side yet to really strengthen this summer.

One of two players Spurs have got through the door is defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich.

In 2023 during the Portuguese's previous time in England with Fulham, no player recieved more yellow cards in Europe's top five leagues than his 17 and he could well resume business on his Spurs debut.

Ousmane Dembele enjoyed a stunning 2024/25 season for PSG, with consistent match-winning displays on their way to Ligue 1 and Champions League glory making him the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or this year.

After 35 goals in all competitions last term, it would be no surprise to see him open his account for the season on Wednesday night.

The bookies favour the Champions League winners in most of the markets and that is why PSG lift the trophy looks like the smart move.
