  • Donyell Malen to have 1+ shots on target and Cristian Romero to be carded

Tottenham and Aston Villa will be looking to pick up where they left off before the international break when they resume their Premier League campaigns on Sunday.

Spurs have impressed so far under Thomas Frank and are flying high in third after picking up 14 points from their first seven games, most recently beating Leeds a fortnight ago.

Unai Emery's Villa have enjoyed something of a mini resurgence in recent games after a poor start to the season, winning each of their last four games in all competitions to lift them to within touching distance of the top half.

Check out Ladbrokes' best bets, tips and predictions ahead of what should be an intriguing encounter at 2pm on Sunday in North London.

Tottenham vs Aston Villa betting tips and predictions

Both teams to score

Spurs' early momentum under Frank has slowed slightly with their defence called into question after conceding first in each of their last four games in all competitions, leading to just one win and three draws in those matches.

Villa have suddenly found their shooting boots and with Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers boosted by goals for England against Wales, they should arrive in the capital in confident mood to breach the hosts' defence. Just as we have done in our 'Bets we'd make after GW8' article, we reckon both teams will find the net.

Donyell Malen to have 1+ shots on target

Donyell Malen was the hero with both goals in Villa's 2-1 win over Burnley before the break and, as a result, should keep his place for this game.

The Dutch forward will look to make an impact in the role playing just behind Watkins and looks a good shout to test Guglielmo Vicario with at least one shot on target.

Cristian Romero to be carded

Cristian Romero played for Argentina on Wednesday night but will be flown back in time to feature on Sunday - and the Spurs skipper is sure to be at the heart of the action after playing every minute of their Premier League campaign so far.

The fiery centre-back is often a smart pick in the cards market, as shown by his three yellows across seven games so far, and we believe the 27-year-old could find his way into the referee's book in this game, too.

Aston Villa to win

Though Tottenham are the favourites in the match betting, we think Villa could add to their opponents' recent sticky patch at home, having lost to Bournemouth and drawn with Wolves - only after a late equaliser - in their last two games as hosts.

Villa also have a good recent record against the North Londoners, winning five of the last seven meetings. Emery is also a manager who seems to use the international break to his advantage, with Villa unbeaten in their last 10 games after returning, winning eight of those.
