Ladbrokes predicts the England starting lineup against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup semi-final
Bukayo Saka tipped to come back into the XI, with Ezri Konsa behind him at right-back
Anthony Gordon expected to start on the left, with Golden Ball candidate Jude Bellingham pulling the strings

Ladbrokes predicts England's starting lineup for their World Cup semi-final against Argentina, with star men Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane set to play another crucial role.
An unforgettable day for the Three Lions saw them get the better of Norway in a nail-biting quarter-final, setting up a first competitive meeting with Argentina since the 2002 World Cup, and against the reigning world champions, Thomas Tuchel's side will be ready to show their class - but which 11 men will become just the fourth group of players to start a World Cup semi-final for England?
Below you'll find who we think will get the nod on Wednesday, and you can also check out our detailed match preview and bet builder tips for the must-watch semi-final.
GK: Jordan Pickford
RB: Ezri Konsa
CB: John Stones
CB: Marc Guehi
LB: Nico O'Reilly
CM: Elliot Anderson
CM: Declan Rice
RW: Bukayo Saka
CAM: Jude Bellingham
LW: Anthony Gordon
ST: Harry Kane (C)
Jordan Pickford will once again be in goal for England this week, with the Everton shot-stopper breaking Peter Shilton's record as the man with more World Cup appearances than any other when he started against Norway in the quarter-final, and while he hasn't been at his best this summer, he's still the undisputed #1 for Thomas Tuchel.
In front of him, we're predicting Ezri Konsa to start at right-back once again with Jarell Quansah suspended, Reece James still not fully fit, and Djed Spence still struggling for consistency. Alongside him, we think it'll be the Manchester City pairing of John Stones - who earned his 93rd cap last weekend - and Marc Guehi, with Nico O'Reilly keeping the shirt as England's marauding left-back.
Moving into midfield, and our experts are expecting an unchanged partnership of Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice to once again be tasked with running the show for England, breaking up any Argentina attacks and pulling the strings to release the danger-men in the final third. Rice may not be operating at 100%, but with such crucial experience in big games, we're tipping the Premier League champion to pull on the shirt in the semi-final.
Fellow Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is tipped to start on the right-hand side on Wednesday night, replacing Noni Madueke after another underwhelming display from the 24-year-old, and while he also hasn't been at his best thus far, Saka will still be confident of becoming England's first Premier League goalscorer of the World Cup.
Golden Ball contender Jude Bellingham will of course start in the #10, with another brace last time out proving once again that this team simply doesn't hit its best without him, so the likes of Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers will continue to be limited to minutes off the bench - but having had the shot that led to Bellingham's winner on Saturday, Rogers will be ready to have an impact again.
Out on the left, we think Anthony Gordon will start for the third game in a row, with another assist against Norway taking him to three for the tournament. No England player has more, and considering those three assists have come in his last three games, the Barcelona man is hitting form at the perfect time.
Finally, captain Harry Kane - priced among the favourites to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or - will lead the line in his second World Cup semi-final, after doing the same in England's crushing defeat to Croatia back in 2018. He's earned the right to be the first name on the teamsheet, and will be desperate to add to his 73 goals this term - a season tally that has only ever been beaten by one man... Argentina skipper Lionel Messi.
