Wrexham vs Cardiff City: Carabao Cup betting tips, odds & predictions

Wrexham tipped to beat Cardiff in fierce Welsh derby
Josh Windass backed to score for the second game in a row
Rubin Colwill to provide the spark for Cardiff
Ahead of Tuesday night's Welsh derby in the Carabao Cup, Ladbrokes shares its expert Wrexham vs Cardiff betting tips, with odds & predictions for the round-of-16 tie.
The two Welsh clubs haven't met since 2002, when Cardiff came out on top in a Division 2 clash, but the old rivalry will finally be renewed at the Racecourse Ground this week - with both sides looking for an eye-catching progression to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Below are Ladbrokes' top betting tips and predictions for Wrexham vs Cardiff, with the hosts backed to taste victory against the Bluebirds for the first time since 2000.
Wrexham vs Cardiff City: Carabao Cup betting tips, odds & predictions
Josh Windass to score
Josh Windass has had a strong start to life at Wrexham since his switch from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, scoring four times in nine Championship games and helping guide his team to a relatively comfortable mid-table berth - and we're tipping him to score again in the Carabao Cup this week.
Cardiff's defence has been strong in League One, conceding just 11 times in 13 games, but the quality of the likes of Windass and Kieffer Moore could stretch the Bluebirds. Windass has proven himself as a consistent goalscorer over the last few seasons, and will fancy his chances to write his name into the history of this fiery derby with a goal.
Rubin Colwill to have 1+ shots on target
Midfielder Rubin Colwill has been one of Cardiff's standout players so far this season, already registering nine goals and assists in all competitions - including an assist against Premier League side Burnley in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.
We're expecting a lot of Cardiff's positive play to go through the 23-year-old on Tuesday night, and with Wrexham susceptible to conceding a fair few chances within games, we're tipping Colwill to have 1+ shots on target. He isn't shy about shooting from range - on either foot - so Wrexham's defence will have to be wary.
Ronan Kpakio to be carded
Looking at the booking markets for Wrexham vs Cardiff, Ladbrokes thinks Ronan Kpakio could be a smart pick, with the Cardiff right back getting a yellow card in two of his last four matches.
After playing just under 15 minutes at the weekend, we're expecting the teenager to get a start here, and he's likely to be right in the thick of the action against the likes of Ryan Longman and Josh Windass. The young Wales international has had a really bright start to his Cardiff career, and will look to get forward as much as possible - but we're tipping him to pick up a booking against superior opposition.
Wrexham to win
In one of football's rarer sights, Wrexham find themselves in a higher division than Cardiff this season, and despite Cardiff sitting pretty at the top of League One, we're backing Wrexham to prove their class and beat their rivals on Tuesday night.
The Red Dragons haven't conceded more than once in a game since the middle of September, and come into this one in excellent form, with just one defeat in eight games. A solid point away at promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough will have spirits high ahead of the Welsh derby - so we're backing them to claim the bragging rights and progress into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 1977/78.
