Verdict

Add 100 yards to the advertised race distance. Gold Cup runner-up JANGO BAIE is the one to beat if reproducing last month's Cheltenham Festival form, and he has a strong record at Aintree. Impaire Et Passe was pulled up in the Ryanair last month and needs to prove his stamina, but he beat Jango Baie in the Grade 1 Manifesto Novices' Chase here 12 months ago to make it 2-2 at this meeting and could be the main danger to the selection. The tremendous campaigner Protektorat is next on the list, while fellow 11yo Pic D'orhy and Cotswold Chase winner Spillane's Tower are not ruled out.[Ben Hutton]
