Verdict
It's no surprise to see Halfway House Lad (next best) turning out at his new home track, though whether Cartmel will suit as well as Newcastle or Hexham isn't guaranteed. Kaviar Wood has been given time to recover from his spill at Hereford and enters calculations also, but perhaps the safest option is DEFENCE WITNESS, successful on this card last year, who represents a trainer and rider in searing form earlier in the week.
