Verdict
So Smart showed superb early speed to get across from stall 1 when beating 13 rivals in the corresponding event 12 months ago and he bids for a repeat off a 1lb lower mark. With Birkenhead, Desert Champion and Faustus in the line-up it won't be an easy race to dominate and the two to appeal most are Tuscan Point and MAHARAJAS EXPRESS. The former is thriving for Adam Kirby but the selection should be sharper with his recent reappearance behind him and he should get a lovely tow into the contest.[Paul Smith]
