Verdict
The lightly raced 7yo Better Off Alone ran well for a long way at Uttoxeter in December and needs a close look on this drop to 2m. Royal Mer has claims if he can recapture the form of his close second at Exeter last month, but the one who appeals most is Dan Skelton's unexposed chaser JACK BLACK. He found improvement when a front-running second at Taunton and is a big player if he can back that up off an unchanged mark.[David Moon]
