Chelsea won 3-2 at Fulham on the opening weekend, with their attacking quality matched by a few defensive concerns. Brighton kept a clean sheet against Aston Villa, but the last three league meetings between these teams at Stamford Bridge have ended 1-3, 4-2 and 3-2. Goals at both ends looks worth considering again.
Recent meetings have rarely been cagey. Each of the eight Premier League clashes played since the teams drew 1-1 in January 2022 has produced at least three goals. Their opening league fixtures brought nine goals between them too, so we expect the ball to find its way into the back of the net a fair few times on Sunday afternoon.
Maxim De Cuyper was used on the left of Brighton’s attack against Aston Villa and scored from close range in the 4-0 win. His attacking output is not limited to that advanced club role, having recorded six shots on target across six appearances for Belgium at the World Cup.
Joao Pedro faces his former club after making a flying start to the season. The Brazilian scored after only 32 seconds at Fulham, having struck seven times across Chelsea’s six pre-season matches, and having had a summer of no football, we're tipping a refreshed Pedro to find the back of the net once again this weekend.
