England's first match since the World Cup is a repeat of the Euro 2024 final as they take on world and European champions Spain in their UEFA Nations League opener at Wembley.

Spain were crowned world champions for the second time in July after winning the final against Argentina, who England were knocked out by in the semi-finals in disappointing fashion after leading until the closing stages of the game. Victory against La Roja would no doubt get the Three Lions fans back onside for Thomas Tuchel, although they know it will be no easy task against a Spain side whose last defeat came all the way back in March 2024.

Harry Kane to have 2+ shots on target

Harry Kane remains England's main man, captain and striker and is even the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or after a stunning 2026 for the Three Lions and Bayern Munich. The 32-year-old averaged 1.7 shots on target per match at the World Cup, and 3.2 shots per 90 mins, so we're tipping the skipper to test Unai Simon with at least two.

Lamine Yamal to have 2+ shots on target

Lamine Yamal is another close contender for the Ballon d'Or, with the Barcelona forward one of the world's most feared attackers despite being just 19. Yamal's goalscoring numbers at the World Cup were fairly modest with only one goal but he was still hugely influential, taking 1.8 shots on target per match. Like Kane, we believe Yamal is good value for at least two efforts on goal.

Mikel Oyarzabal to have 1+ shots on target

We are sticking with the shots on target market for what could be an entertaining game between two of the world's best teams, with Mikel Oyarzabal just needing 1+ shots on target to keep this Bet Builder rolling. The Real Sociedad forward remains a huge threat for La Roja, scoring five goals at the World Cup and had 1.8 shots on target per match, so this feels another viable option.

Both teams to score

The bookies suggest this game is too close to call, with Spain very narrow favourites, so we're avoiding the match-betting market for this game and instead opting for both teams to score. Nations League games can often be very open affairs, as is shown by the 3-2 win for England the last time these two met in the competition in 2018. Overall, both teams have found the net in each of the last four meetings between these two. With attacking talent on both sides, both teams should get on the scoresheet at Wembley.
