Spain vs Argentina (Final)
Spain 0-0 Cape Verde
Spain 4-0 Saudi Arabia
Uruguay 0-1 Spain
Spain's World Cup campaign did not get off to the most ideal start after playing their part in one of the shocks of the whole tournament when they were held to a 0-0 draw by tournament debutants Cape Verde.
A 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia was much more like their usual selves, with three goals inside the first 24 minutes wrapping up what was a comfortable victory to put them in command of Group H. Top spot was secured in the final group game with a narrow, but fairly routine 1-0 win over 10-man Uruguay courtesy of Alex Baena's first-half goal.
Spain 3-0 Austria
Arguably their most dominant performance came in the Round of 32 when they picked Austria apart in a 3-0 victory over their European counterparts.
Mikel Oyarzabal set them on their way in the first half before Pedro Porro's first international goal doubled their advantage, with Oyarzabal grabbing his second late on as they cruised through to the Round of 16.
Portugal 0-1 Spain
A Round of 16 clash against Portugal was undoubtedly their biggest challenge yet as two European neighbours with genuine aims of winning the tournament went head-to-head.
A tense encounter followed in Dallas, with Mikel Merino popping up with a 91st-minute winner just when the tie looked to be heading for extra-time, with the victory also seeing them remain the only team not to concede a goal up to that point.
Spain 2-1 Belgium
That record would end in the quarter-finals against Belgium when Charles De Ketelaere finally beat Golden Glove favourite Unai Simon with a first-half equaliser after Fabian Ruiz's opener.
Another closely-fought second half followed before Merino popped up with another winner, following up on the rebound on 88 minutes after substitute goalkeeper Senne Lammens spilled Pau Cubarsi's long-range effort.
France 0-2 Spain
Spain had flown relatively under the radar up to that point but their dominant performance to dump out then tournament favourites France in the semi-finals has made everyone sit up and notice them once again.
La Roja's controlled possession play nullified the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele before they went ahead through Oyarzabal's penalty on the stroke of half-time following Lucas Digne's clumsy foul on Lamine Yamal.
Les Bleus pushed to find a way back in the second half, but Spain's place in the final was wrapped up when Porro finished off a flowing move involving Dani Olmo to secure a 2-0 victory, with Luis de la Fuente's men just a game away from being crowned both European and world champions.
