The 2025/26 season was the one which finally ended their long wait for a Premier League title, with their previous one coming in 2003/04.

After spending most of the season on top, the Gunners recovered from a late-season wobble to reassert their dominance at the summit, ultimately securing the title with a game to spare.

Premier League history

Arsenal are the third-most successful club in English football history, with 14 league titles, although just four of those coming in the Premier League.

That places them fourth for most titles won since the competition's inception in 1992, with Manchester United clearly out in front with 13, while Manchester City are second with eight and Chelsea in third on five after successful periods for both clubs in the modern era.

Squad and key players

Arsenal have largely kept the same squad which won the Premier League last season but have added quality in key areas to ensure they continue to strengthen.

The marquee signing so far is undoubtedly Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle for a reported £75million. The Brazilian looks like an ideal partner for Declan Rice in the centre of midfield, with Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino making up an extremely strong set of options in that area.

Christos Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge to negate the loss of Leandro Trossard, although their failed pursuit of Vinicius Junior would suggest they are still looking for an upgrade on the left wing.

Centre-back is another key area to keep an eye on, with William Saliba's injury making Piero Hincapie or Christian Mosquera the likely partners to Gabriel Maglahaes in defence, although they may still add another option there before the window closes.

Viktor Gyokeres remains their No9, and they will hope the Swede further settles after scoring a solid, if slightly underwhelming, 14 Premier League goals last season. He is an outsider in the Golden Boot race, although he will have a real task breaking Erling Haaland's stranglehold on the accolade since arriving in England.

Key Fixtures

Champions Arsenal play the first game of the season on Friday, August 21 at home to newly-promoted side Coventry, with the Gunners heavy favourites in the match-betting odds for that game.

Tricky games away at Aston Villa and at home to Chelsea follow in their next two, before they face title challengers Liverpool and Manchester City in the space of three weeks in late October and November. The first North London derby of the season is away at Tottenham on December 5, with the Gunners facing Manchester United in the lead-up to Christmas.

A double header against City and Liverpool follows in January and February, with Man Utd also on the fixture list in February. After facing Chelsea in March, the North Londoners have a relatively comfortable final eight-game run-in to end the season, with Villa and Spurs their hardest games as they host Brighton in the last game of the campaign.

Arsenal Premier League prediction

There is no doubt Arsenal were deserving title winners last season, and we think they look the best-placed to retain it this time around, becoming only the fourth team to do so in the Premier League era.

Guimaraes looks like a superb addition in midfield and there should be another attacker that comes in, but other than that their XI feels extremely settled, which is not something that can be said for their Premier League rivals.

While it's unlikely they'll have it wrapped up with months to spare, they have now proven they can get over the line after so many failed attempts - and they will be stronger for that experience. All the signs point to another Arsenal title win.
