Predicting how every Premier League team will line up in 2026/27

It's been a summer of change for Aston Villa following their Europa League triumph, with Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers out the door and Lucas Digne and Leon Bailey set to follow, but their incoming signings have ensured there is still excitement for the season ahead.

Johan Manzambi will likely slot straight into the Rogers role, while Joao Gomes will hope to forge a partnership with Boubacar Kamara in midfield. A shock move for Alejandro Garnacho has been wrapped up and is another who should get plenty of minutes.

Villa are unlikely to be done there, with a move for Pervis Estupinan said to be in the works, but the potential departure of Ollie Watkins will force a rethink of their striking options, with reports of interest in Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson. A potential return for former captain Jack Grealish has also emerged recently, although that deal feels a long way off.

Bournemouth have once again had to deal with exits, namely their manager Andoni Iraola and best centre-back Marcos Senesi, but they also look set to hold onto midfielder Alex Scott and forward Eli Kroupi, albeit he will miss the start of the season with injury, ahead of their first-ever European campaign.

New boss Marco Rose looks to have an exciting squad on his hands as a result, boosted by the imminent arrivals of defenders Juanlu Sanchez and Antonio Silva to plug the gaps of the departing Senesi and Alex Jimenez.

Brazilian winger Rayan returns to the Cherries after representing Brazil at the World Cup, although they may face a fight to keep hold of the 20-year-old amid reported interest from both Liverpool and Barcelona.

Brentford broke their transfer record to sign Mamadou Sangare from Lens in what looks like a direct Jordan Henderson replacement as the Bees look to build on their ninth-place finish in 2025/26.

Young defender Jannik Schuster and winger Jaidon Anthony bolster their defensive and attacking options, although both may be forced to settle for a rotation role early on in the season, with free signing Callum Wilson supporting Igor Thiago up front.

Other than that, it looks a fairly settled squad under Keith Andrews, which will be welcomed after several departures last summer - and they will feel well-placed to keep challenging around the European places once again this coming season.

Brighton have had plenty of outgoings to deal with this summer, but that is nothing new for the Seagulls and they look well placed to deal with the departure of Spurs-bound Jan Paul van Hecke.

Highly-rated Luka Vuskovic had come in the opposite direction to the South Coast, while Pascal Struijk has also been pinched from Premier League rivals Leeds. It remains to be seen whether the South Coast club will hold onto Carlos Baleba this summer.

Danny Welbeck's shock move to Chelsea will likely force them to go into the market for a new striker, while teenage winger Zadok Yohanna will hope to become the latest gem unearthed by the Seagulls have signing from AIK Athens.

Chelsea have been busy as ever this summer ahead of Xabi Alonso's first season, with Rogers undoubtedly the marquee signing from Villa, while they will hope Maxence Lacroix's £52m switch from Crystal Palace will be the answer to their defensive issues.

Marc Cucurella's move to Real Madrid is a blow, however, with Jorrel Hato set to step in at left-back as it stands. The future of Enzo Fernandez is also uncertain, which may see them go in for another midfielder.

Alonso has favoured a back four so far, rather than the 3-4-3 system used at Bayer Leverkusen, which offers a chance for youngster Estevao to shine on the right alongside Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer, who will feature behind Joao Pedro.

Having finally secured their Premier League return after 25 years, Championship winners Coventry have been surprisingly quiet ahead of the new season, with Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and the permanent signing of Frank Onyeka their only acquisitions so far.

Last season's Player of the Season Carl Rushworth has joined the Sky Blues permanently from Brighton, while they are reportedly in talks to re-sign Gustavo Hamer, three years after he left the West Midlands for Sheffield United.

Recent speculation has also linked Coventry with AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, who manager Frank Lampard signed on loan with Derby in 2018-19 before bringing him into Chelsea's first team a year later. Patrick Berg, who helped Norway reach the World Cup quarter-finals, is also thought to be a target.

Conference League winners Crystal Palace now have Pierre Sage in charge, with the Frenchman expected to deploy a similar 3-4-2-1 system to predecessor Oliver Glasner.

The Eagles have lost two of their best defenders in the last six months, with Maxence Lacroix joining Chelsea after Marc Guehi made the switch to Manchester City in January, but Chadi Riad and Jaydee Canvot both look like ready-made replacements to go alongside Chris Richards at the back. Oscar Mingueza is another versatile defender who can cover across the backline.

The futures of Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta could be something to keep an eye on, with the former linked with a move to Fenerbahce. Mateta, meanwhile, may be phased out following the arrival of Jorgen Strand Larsen in January.

Everton did not enjoy the best ends to last season, meaning David Moyes looks likely to be under pressure should they make a poor start to 2026/27 - though they will hope their smattering of additions can have a positive impact.

Christian Norgaard looks set to join from Arsenal, with the Denmark international going straight in as Idrissa Gueye's replacement. Hayden Hackney looks another promising midfield addition after lighting up the Championship last season.

Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George have also signed permanently, with the former poised to become a key man after enjoying a strong end to last season and pre-season. The Toffees are reportedly leading the race to sign striker Liam Delap from Chelsea, so we have him in as our No9, although star man Iliman Ndiaye continues to be linked with a move away.

Alvaro Arbeloa is now in charge of Fulham after Marco Silva's departure, and he has so far used his Real Madrid links to bring in Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios from Los Blancos, with 19-year-old Thiago Pitarch also potentially on his way.

Garcia is perhaps the likeliest of those to play a regular role after a £34m outlay on the striker, with Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez completing their No9 options.

Harry Wilson looks like a potentially big miss for the Cottagers, with January signing Oscar Bobb needing to step up on the right wing, while Brazilian winger Kevin has also been the subject of interest from Roma.

Hull have welcomed four players through the door since their promotion via the play-offs, but if their owner Acun Ilicai's recent social media posts are to be believed, there could be plenty more signings in the weeks to come.

Jack Butland, Matt Target, Oscar Zambrano and Hidemasa Morita are the confirmed signings, with Leon Bailey and Manor Solomon both strongly linked with a move to the MKM Stadium. A deal for defender Nobel Mendy has reportedly been agreed, although they are set to miss out on Florentino Luis fellow promoted side Ipswich.

Jen-Hjerto Dahl and Elliot Stroud are two other targets which look like could come to fruition, but there is no escaping the sense it could be a tough season ahead for the Tigers. - and the relegation odds reflect that.

Ipswich may no longer have Kieran McKenna in charge, but their transfer window so far suggests they make a better fist of trying to avoid another relegation from the Premier League this time around.

Experienced defender Issa Diop looks like a shrewd addition at centre-back, while Abdul Fatawu has made the switch from Leicester to the Tractor Boys. Brazilian Emersonn comes in as their big-money striker up front, with Daizen Maeda another promising attacking signing from Chelsea.

Kjell Scherpen should go in as their No1 goalkeeper after joining from Union Saint-Gilloise. Both Exequiel Palacios and Florentino Luis have been strongly linked as midfield targets, while a return for Julio Enciso is also said to be on the cards.

Leeds defied expectations by avoiding relegation last season and have made a couple of decent additions over the summer so far.

Harry Wilson looks a shrewd free pick-up from Fulham, while defender Tarik Muharemovic joins after catching the eye for Bosnia at the World Cup. The Whites also look to have won the race for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.

Pascal Struijk has departed, with a potential move for Amadou Kone seemingly in the works to bolster their midfield options.

New Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola seemingly still has plenty of parts of his squad in need of improvement ahead of the new season.

The Reds are the favourites to sign Bradley Barcola, although it remains to be seen whether the Paris Saint-Germain star would be comfortable playing on the right, which Mohamed Salah has now vacated.

Further back on the right, Jeremie Frimpong is yet to convince as a full-back, so a new face may still come in, while 21-year-old Jeremy Jacquet currently looks like stepping in at centre-back as it stands following Ibrahima Konate's move to Real Madrid. Victor Munoz, the only arrival so far, looks set to be be a rotation option on the wings alongside Rio Ngumoha.

Like many other clubs, Manchester City are entering a new era this season after Pep Guardiola's departure following 10 successful years at the helm, with Enzo Maresca now in charge.

Bernardo Silva and John Stones are the latest club legends to depart, with Elliot Anderson the big-name signing in midfield as he looks set to partner Rodri, although the World Cup winner has himself been linked with Real Madrid in recent weeks.

Phil Foden will be hoping to return to form after signing a new contract as his boyhood club, with the England man forming a stacked attack which includes Antoine Semenyo, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland.

We're predicting Tielemans to go in alongside Kobbie Mainoo, though another midfielder could also arrive at Old Trafford after being linked with countless names including Manu Kone and Carlos Baleba.

Lewis Hall has emerged as a left-back target from Newcastle, while it would be no surprise to see another striker come to compete with Benjamin Sesko. What Michael Carrick does with returning loanee Marcus Rashford remains an intriguing issue, with the door now closed on a return to Barcelona.

Newcastle's line-up may just be the hardest to predict right now, with Eddie Howe's shock departure causing plenty of uncertainty at St James' Park.

Matthias Jaissle is poised to replace Howe, but captain Bruno Guimaraes looks set to follow Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon out of the door, with the futures of Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento also in doubt.

The Magpies have still managed to bring a few names in, however, with Bazoumana Toure, Aladji Bamba, Lukas Hornicek and Sean Steur likely to play key roles, as Ewen Jaoen provides back-up in goal. Angelo Stiller has been linked with St James' Park, with the Germany international replacing Joelinton, who could be on his way to Saudi.

After going through four different managers last season, Nottingham Forest once again have a new man in the dugout after appointing former Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

As a result, we have lined Forest up in Glasner's preferred 3-4-2-1 formation he deployed at Selhurst Park, which looks to suit their side nicely Ola Aina and Neco Williams at wing-back. Defender Ousmane Diomande looks set to join from Sporting, with the Ivory Coast international forming the back three alongside Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo.

Xaver Schlager will go in as the direct replacement for Elliot Anderson in midfield, with Omari Hutchinson and Morgan Gibbs-White playing behind Igor Jesus. As it stands, Forest look set to hold onto star man Gibbs-White, which could prove to be their best move of the summer, just as it was last season.

After a superb 2025/26 season, Sunderland will compete in Europe for the first time in 53 years this term - but it remains to be seen whether their squad can manage a Europa League campaign alongside their Premier League commitments.

So far, only veteran right-back Thomas Meunier has arrived through the door, who, granted, will bring some European experience to their squad, but Regis Le Bris will surely want to see some more activity before the window closes.

Dayann Methalie is a target at centre-back, but other than that, the Black Cats side is looking strikingly similar to last season - which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Spurs are seemingly still keen to add to their squad, with Manchester City winger Savinho believed to be a top target, but a new striker continues to be an issue for the North Londoners with Eli Kroupi unlikely to leave Bournemouth.

James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus' returns hand a huge boost to their attacking options, while Cristian Romero, Lucas Bergvall and Guglielmo Vicario all look set for the exit door.
