Ladbrokes shares its predictions and 40/1 Bet Builder for Ipswich vs Sunderland in the Premier League
Ipswich and Sunderland are predicted to draw with under 2.5 goals in the match
Brian Brobbey is backed for a goal with Sasa Lukic shown a yellow card

Newly-promoted Ipswich mark their return to the Premier League in 2026/27 against last season's surprise package Sunderland.
The Black Cats were superb in their first season back in the top flight last term, defying expectations to finish seventh and qualify for the Europa League under Regis Le Bris. Ipswich will be looking to take a leaf out of their book as a result, having flip-flopped between the Premier League and the Championship in each of the last four seasons. After Kieran McKenna's surprise departure after promotion, the Tractor Boys now have Gary O'Neil in charge as they look to beat the odds and avoid relegation this time around.

Brian Brobbey caught the eye for Sunderland last season, with his physicality proving a handful for most defenders on his way to scoring seven times in the league. The Netherlands striker scored three times for his country at the World Cup and also netted in Sunderland's final pre-season game against Rennes. With confidence high, Brobbey will fancy himself to get among the goals on the opening day.
New signing Sasa Lukic adds some much-needed Premier League experience to the Tractor Boys' midfield, but the Serbian is no stranger to a booking, picking up 10 for Fulham last season. Lukic is not afraid to get stuck in and is unsurprisingly the favourite to get booked in this game. With the newly-promoted hosts hoping to stifle the rhythm of their opponents, Lukic is a real contender to start off his Ipswich career with a card.
We could be in for a tight encounter at Portman Road, with avoiding defeat likely seen as a positive start to the season for O'Neil's side. Ipswich had the second-best defence in the Championship last season and have recruited well with the signing of Issa Diop from Fulham. With a strong defence also the cornerstone of Sunderland's success last season, we're not expecting too many goals in this encounter.
Finally, we're backing Ipswich and Sunderland to share the spoils on the opening day, with a 1-1 draw our specific score prediction. As mentioned, anything more than a defeat would be a success for Ipswich, while the Black Cats are unlikely to be fully firing with so many of their stars involved in the World Cup over the summer. A score draw feels like the likely scenario here.
