NFL 2025 Season Preview: Super Bowl Odds, MVP Favourites and Playoff Predictions

Super Bowl betting odds: four contenders lead the market

The race for Super Bowl LIX is wide open at the start of the 2025 season, with no single team pulling clear in the market. The Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are all locked as joint favourites at 13/2, underlining just how competitive the field looks.

The Eagles come in as defending champions after toppling the Chiefs in last season’s Super Bowl, while Josh Allen’s Bills remain perennial contenders despite Allen falling to Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City in the playoffs four times. The big question is whether Lamar Jackson and the Ravens can finally get over the hump after years of falling just short.

Behind the leading quartet, the Green Bay Packers have seen their odds slashed to 12/1 following the blockbuster trade for defensive star Micah Parsons, while divisional rivals the Detroit Lions (12/1) face a test of continuity after both coordinators departed for head coaching roles but are still coming off a 15-2 record in 2024. The San Francisco 49ers (18/1) are looking to rebound after a disappointing 6–11 campaign in 2024 but still boast the star quality to mount a challenge.

Also at 18/1, the Washington Commanders will hope quarterback Jayden Daniels can build on his sensational rookie year that took them to the NFC Championship game. Further back, the Cincinnati Bengals (20/1) still possess one of the league’s most fearsome offenses but come with familiar defensive question marks, while the LA Rams (20/1) remain a proven dark horse under Sean McVay.

NFL MVP favourites: Allen and Jackson lead the race

The NFL MVP race looks just as competitive as the Super Bowl market, with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson opening as joint favourites at 5/1. Both quarterbacks are looking to finally translate regular-season brilliance into playoff glory, with Bills quarterback Allen winning his first MVP in 2024, after Ravens dual-threat QB Jackson had collected his second MVP award in 2023.

Neither is yet to even reach a Super Bowl, with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs proving insurmountable in the AFC. Kansas City has reached the Conference Championship game for seven years in a row, and Mahomes is 11/2 to win MVP for the third time in 2025. The same odds are set for Bengals signal-caller Joe Burrow, who is coming off the best statistical season of his career, and will still be throwing to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins this season after both were tied down to new contracts.

Jayden Daniels (8/1) is already being touted as the NFL’s next superstar after storming to Offensive Rookie of the Year, and a second-year leap could thrust him straight into the MVP mix. Jalen Hurts (16/1) has already delivered a Super Bowl for Philadelphia and carries the credentials to mount another run if the Eagles secure a top seed, while Justin Herbert (16/1) will look to build on a solid first campaign under Jim Harbaugh as the Chargers try to climb back into contention.

Among the non-quarterback candidates, Saquon Barkley (33/1) leads the charge after he came within touching distance of breaking the single-season rushing record. Ja’Marr Chase (80/1) also can’t be discounted after a historic triple crown campaign, even if the odds reflect how rarely wide receivers take home the award.
