Denver Broncos @ Washington Commanders: NFL Week 13 Sunday Night Football Odds, Prediction

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

When the 2025 NFL regular-season schedule was released in May, this looked like a really intriguing Sunday night game between two rising quarterbacks who were among the six chosen in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft in Denver’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Jayden Daniels.

Both had strong first seasons, especially Daniels as he won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and led his team to the NFC Championship Game. Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in that draft, lasted only six injury-plagued games this season before going down for the year and the franchise has utterly collapsed without him. To the point where coach Dan Quinn might be on a hot seat entering 2026.

Nix was the last of the six taken in that first round, and he was quite good as a rookie but has taken a step forward in Year 2 as has his team as it leads the AFC West and is battling for the top seed in the conference along with the likes of New England and Indianapolis. The Broncos are +165 second favourites to get it.

It’s pretty rare for any NFL matchup to feature a pair of teams out of the bye and especially this late in a season, but that’s the case. It’s the first-ever Sunday Night Football matchup between them. In the regular season, Denver leads 8-7 overall, but Washington is 4-2 at home.

Denver Broncos

Denver comes out of the bye with a two-game lead atop the AFC West and on an eight-game winning streak that is the second-longest active in the league behind New England’s nine in a row – Sunday’s Patriots win also gave them a temporary half-game lead for the AFC’s top seed over the Broncos. Thanks in large part to rising star second-year QB Bo Nix, Denver is a stellar 7-2 in one-score games, tied for the most such wins in the NFL. Somewhat crazily, the Broncos are 5-0 when down in the fourth quarter this year with time still on the clock, the best such start by any NFL team in a season since the 2009 Colts, who reached the Super Bowl. Denver’s two losses came on field goals as time expired. Coach Sean Payton also should see the return of two key defenders from injury out of the bye in linebacker Alex Singleton and cornerback and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain Jr., who has missed the last three games. The Under is 7-2 in the Broncos’ past nine.

Washington Commanders

Washington comes out of the bye on a six-game losing streak that is tied for the longest active in the league. The team wasn’t very competitive in many of those but really should have won its Week 11 game in Madrid, falling 16-13 in OT vs. Miami. A lot of bad mistakes for the Commanders cost them, including a pick on the first play of overtime by Marcus Mariota. Kicker Matt Gay missed two field goals, including what would have been a game winner, and was cut the next day. The team signed Jake Moody off the Chicago practice squad to take over. Washington went 7-0 in games decided on the final play or in the last seconds last season; in 2025, it is 0-2 in such games. No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin has played just four games due to injury, and it’s not clear if he’ll be ready for this one. The team had a lot of injuries entering the off week. The Commanders are also 0-6 ATS during this skid.
