After a rough start to the season, Patriots QB Drake Maye looks back to his best following consecutive wins over the Bills and Raiders. Maye threw four TD passes and rushed for another last week, and had five passing TDs the last time he faced the Jets. New York have improved this season in Aaron Glenn's second year, but have lost 18 of the last 20 against New England. We're backing the Pats to win by a touchdown.
Pick: Patriots -7
In what is likely the final season of his Hall of Fame career, Pittsburgh QB Aaron Rodgers has found his mojo in recent weeks, throwing three TD passes in each of his last three games. The Steelers are 3-2, with Jaylen Warren one of the early stars of the NFL season, averaging over 120 scrimmage yards per game. Tampa Bay pulled off a shocking upset on the road in Dallas last week to pick up their first win, thanks to Bucky Irving's big day on the ground and good play from undrafted rookie QB Jalon Daniels. Pittsburgh's defense represents a significant step up though, and we think the Steelers win outright.
Pick: Steelers money line
The Chargers' season is all but over after they fell to 0-5 last week, while the Chiefs were unbeaten at 4-0 heading into their bye in Week 5. The addition of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker at running back has given Kansas City a new dimension on offense, with his sensational start seeing him find the endzone six times and total 621 yards in four games. Combine that with the powers of Patrick Mahomes, as well as a rejuvenated Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs will take some stopping this year. They should have no trouble dealing with the Chargers on Sunday.
Pick: Chiefs -7.5
The Raiders have come back down to earth a bit after their 3-0 start, dropping each of their last two games. They put up a good fight against the Chiefs, but their defense was torn apart in a 45-17 blowout in New England last week. The bad news for them is that Josh Allen is next up, and the 2024 MVP has had another superb start to the season. Buffalo's quarterback has 15 total TDs in five games, with eight of those coming on the ground. Only Jahmyr Gibbs has more than that, and against a poor Las Vegas defense, we're tipping Allen to rush for another touchdown.
Pick: Josh Allen to score a rushing touchdown
