Erling Haaland odds-on to win the Golden Boot

As expected, Haaland is the favourite to win the Golden Boot at the end of the season, but perhaps what is surprising is just how far out he is at the head of the betting market.

The Norwegian has an assumed probability of 60% of finishing the campaign as top goalscorer, just as he did last season. For context, Alexander Isak, his closest competitor, has been given an 11% shot.

That means that putting a bet on one of the 'outsiders' to win the Golden Boot, such as Isak or another one of the league's top strikers, could be worth your time.

As noted, it's Isak who is second-favourite to win the Golden Boot as the only name other than Haaland priced shorter than 12/1 to be named top goal scorer.

Brentford's Igor Thiago is also on the podium, but the assumed probability of him finishing with the Golden Boot stands at not even 8% at the time of writing.

He is joined by Joao Pedro and Ollie Watkins rounding out the top five, both priced at 14/1, with Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres and Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko way out at 20/1.

Those wanting to back someone with even more of an outside chance of winning the Golden Boot could take a punt on Antoine Semenyo, Cole Palmer, Dominic Solanke or Kai Havertz, all priced at 33/1.

It's clear that the bookies think that the Golden Boot is Haaland's to lose, so that's why there's opportunity to back one of the outsiders to sneak in from behind and take the crown from him.
