Kingspell is a nice horse and is ready to start. We’ve been doing everything we can with him at home, and while he is still raw and green, he will improve with time. He should run a good race, although I wouldn’t fancy him just yet.
He needs to improve if he is to be competitive. His best form has come over 6f, and any cut in the ground will help him over this trip. He is out of form at the moment, but hopefully these conditions can help him find the improvement he needs.
I ride the pacemaker in the St Leger, so there is not much to say from my perspective. However, I think the race is set up nicely for Joseph O’Brien’s Enceladus. I expect him to win the St Leger, and it is no surprise to see him now heading the market. He deserves to be favourite.
River King has had a lay off since his last run. All his runs have been very good, but he has largely been waiting for cut in the ground, which he will get here. He will be very competitive and has a strong each-way chance. I would make him my best ride of the day.
His best form comes with cut in the ground, the trip is absolutely perfect, and he has already won at this track. Although he is an outsider in the market, I am hoping he can turn his form around and produce a performance similar to the one he delivered when winning at Gowran Park.
