Daniel Farke's Leeds side have been one of the form teams in England throughout 2026 and have continued their strong form this season. They've lost just once in seven games, and that was a hard-fought 2-1 defeat away to champions Arsenal.
Sunderland have failed to replicate the formula that took them to a surprise 7th-placed finish last season, and are struggling to juggle the demands of Europa League football. The Black Cats have lost each of their last four league games, coinciding with their European debut, and are missing key centre-backs Kevin Danso and Dan Ballard.
The Whites are a well-drilled, organised unit with a revitalised Dominic Calvert-Lewin bullying defences, and we think they'll continue their strong start with an away win on Wearside.
Sunderland have conceded at least two in each of their last four league games, while Leeds have only failed to find the back of the net once this season. In better news for the home side, Brian Brobbey should return from injury this weekend, and his focal point will give Sunderland's attack a greater threat, so we're backing both teams to score.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin's fine form since signing for Leeds in 2025 has earned him an England recall, and his equaliser against Man United last week was his third league goal of the season. DCL is averaging one shot on target per game this season, so we're backing him to test the keeper again.
Leeds skipper Ethan Ampadu is one of the most consistent and underrated defensive midfielders in the league, but he's also a familiar name in the ref's notebook. Ampadu eventually got booked last week in stoppage time, remarkably not collecting one earlier, which was his second of the season. He had 10 yellow cards last season, so we're tipping him to pick up another here.
