Leg 1: Porto vs Manchester City (Champions League) - Man City to win
Leg 2: Real Madrid vs Inter Milan (Champions League) - Real Madrid to win
Leg 3: Chelsea vs Leeds (Carabao Cup) - Chelsea to win
Leg 4: Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid (Champions League) - Liverpool to win
Manchester City have a trip to Portugal in Enzo Maresca's first Champions League game in charge. City have won all three of their Premier League games this season to top the table, but Porto are also top in Portugal after five wins from five.
City have won their opening game of a Champions League campaign in seven of the last eight seasons, while they have never lost to Porto in four attempts. Previous results indicate an even tougher assignment for the hosts, who have also only ever won twice against an English side in 16 attempts. Going along with that trend, we're tipping City to begin their league phase in positive fashion in Portugal.
A huge game in the opening round of fixtures sees Real Madrid take on Inter Milan, two clubs with aims of going deep in the competition. One of these clubs have appeared in the final in four of the last five seasons, but it is Real who have the stronger head-to-head record with four wins from four meetings this century.
Both teams have a 100% record from their games this season, but we're favouring the hosts for this encounter for a win which would see Jose Mourinho get the better of his old side Inter, who he won the Champions League with in 2010.
Chelsea's failure to qualify for the Champions League means they are in Carabao Cup action on Wednesday in the third round against Leeds - and we are predicting the Blues to bounce back from losing to Arsenal by claiming a victory at Stamford Bridge.
Leeds are unbeaten this season, but two wins and a draw in the Premier League suggests there is more to come from them under Daniel Farke. Unfortunately, our experts believe they will suffer their first defeat of the campaign in West London as Chelsea, one of the Carabao Cup outright winner favourites, march onto the fourth round.
Liverpool are also beginning their Champions League campaign under a new manager, as Andoni Iraola takes charge of his first ever game in the competition fresh off claiming his first win in charge against Ipswich.
It's a far from easy start for the Reds as they welcome Atletico Madrid to Anfield for the second season running, having won a 3-2 thriller last season. In fact, the Merseysiders have won the last three meetings between the pair, having won just two of the previous six. Our experts believe the more recent trend will prevail here as another English side start with a win.
