Real Madrid and Bayern Munich kick off their mouth-watering Champions League quarter-final tie with the first leg at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

The two giants of European football are two strong contenders to go all the way in the competition and while it is Real who beat their opponents for Champions Leagues won with 15 compared to six, Bayern are ahead of the LaLiga side in the betting market for this season's outright winner. Vincent Kompany's outfit are second favourites at just 3/1 to lift the trophy compared to Real at 15/2 - which makes them fifth in line, according to the bookies.

Along with the bookies' predictions, we think Bayern have the upper hand in this tie as they continue to enjoy a sensational season under Kompany.

A trip to the Bernabeu is never easy, however, so we think it's important for the visitors to silence the crowd early on and are tipping them to do just that on Tuesday.

A key reason for Bayern's impressive season which has seen them go nine points clear in the Bundesliga is their ruthlessness in front of goal. With seven games still to play in the league, they have racked up a sensational 97 goals, with Harry Kane on 48 goals, Luis Diaz on 22 and Michael Olise chipping in with 16.

That attacking strength has been on show in the Champions League too - just ask last-16 opponents Atalanta who they beat 10-2 on aggregate - averaging 3.2 goals per game in the competition. As a result, we think they are good value for multiple goals at the Bernabeu.

We can't underestimate Real Madrid's ability to find the net, either, however, with an exciting second leg set to play out which sees both teams scoring.

Los Blancos have failed to score in only one of their 12 games in the competition this season and managed five against Manchester City in the last 16. As a result, backing both teams to score feels like a more than reasonable pick.

Finally, we are tipping Bayern to grab a huge away win at Real Madrid, setting them up nicely to put one foot in the semi-finals.

Real are formidable in this competition traditionally, but they have fallen slightly below their standards this season, while Bayern are looking as good as they've ever looked in the modern era with it shaping up to be a historic season. We think the Bavarians take this one.
