Sean Levey's Goodwood Day Five Schedule - August 1, 2026
I start Saturday at Goodwood with Nightime Dancer - he's a big, staying type, who we've always thought a lot of. He hasn't been showing his best form of late, but I think a track like this might bring the best out of him. The transitioning from one side of the track to the other, over this trip, might spark a bit of enthusiasm, and we hope he can run a big race. He's definitely a nice horse.
Fandom is next for us, in the big race of the day [Coral Stewards' Cup]. He's been pretty versatile and consistent over five and six furlongs, and I think this track will definitely suit him, as he is a very straightforward horse to work with. He can go forward, and sit in if he needs to be. He comes here in great form, too. He'd obviously like a little bit of rain, which I don't think we're going to get. But he's shown us before, once the track has been well-watered and is safe, he definitely puts his best foot forward, so he could run a massive race for us here.
I finish the day with Magi Melchior, who we thought a lot of after his run at Newbury, where he placed and showed us signs that he'd come on for that run. He was a little bit disappointing at Windsor the time after that, and looking back, I'd say the ground was a little on the firm side for him on that day, but again, it's well-watered here, so the ground won't hinder him by any means. He has experience now too, which will definitely help him around this track. He could run a big race for us as well.
